Donna Garman Archer

Born in Washington D. C., Donna was married to 1969 Masters Golf Champion, George Archer, for 44 years. Before he died, George gave Donna permission to talk about the fact that he never learned to read and write beyond third grade level. The Archer Foundation was developed to provide additional and specialized help for children who struggle as they attempt to learn to be proficient in literacy. Our goal is to help as many children as possible so that they might experience the wonder, the magic, the mystery, of reading. Everyone should be able to learn to read, and we shall hopefully help them to do so.

John K. Abendroth

Growing up as a public golf junior in San Francisco, George Archer along with other notable golfers from the City like Ken Venturi, Johnny Miller, Bill McCool, Bob Lunn and Bob Rosburg were an inspiration for me to become and accomplished player.

In the years that I played the PGA Tour from 1975-1977 I was able to play with George, get to know him better and even got a golf tip from him that I even recall over 45 years later.

As an average student I realized in my later years that I have some level of Dyslexia. Through learning about George's issues and the work of the Archer Foundation it made me understand my issues as a kid and led me to be very interested and focused on seeing the George Archer Foundation succeed in their mission.

Lastly, Donna Archer is a treasure... great leader and a wonderful person, I'm proud to be one of her warriors.

Skip Green

Grandfather, father, husband, business person.

I’m involved with the George Archer Foundation for one overriding reason. The one thing that separates humans from all other living entities is the ability to think. The most valuable gift anyone can give a child is the gift of education from which flows knowledge and the ability to reason thus giving a child the opportunity to develop his/her mind to its very maximum. The George Archer Foundation provides this gift to an ever-widening circle of children again and again and…………

The world is a better place because of the George Archer Foundation, and I’m proud to be a small part of it.
